Technology – The Technology function plays a critical role in supporting and enhancing the technology capabilities of UnitedHealth Group. There are more than 3000 associates in this function to support a wide variety of technologies – Mainframe, Data Warehouse, Middleware, Java/J2EE and Microsoft .NET to name a few. It has well defined processes for application development, enhancements, testing and operation & maintenance projects.

Operations – The Operations function is responsible for providing health care transaction processing support to UnitedHealth Group. Having more than 2500 associates, the HBS function follows robust industry standards to deliver best-in-class health care process quality. Other services provided by HBS include transaction quality monitoring, reporting & analytics, and finance & accounting.

Enabling Functions – As the name suggests, Enabling Functions enhance and enable the core functions to exceed expectations. Working closely with our stakeholders to provide best-in-class services and deliver better results. UnitedHealth Group Information Services has the following enabling functions

• Human Capital – The Human Capital function plays a key role in attracting, hiring and retaining top talent. The focus of the function is to create an employee-friendly environment, where people get the opportunity to constantly upgrade their skills and get an opportunity to grow within UHGIS.
• Finance – The Finance function at UHGIS handles financial management and accounting responsibilities like managing accounts (both Indian and US GAAP), financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, etc.
• Business Excellence – The Business Excellence function is responsible for leading the drive towards operations and process excellence across the organization. This function comprises four key areas-Quality, Transitions, Reporting and Internal Applications. In addition the function also plays a pivotal role in organization-wide strategic initiatives aimed at taking UHGIS to the next level
• Real Estate – The Real Estate endeavors to ensure smooth and uninterrupted UHGIS business operations 24/7 and has the following sub-functions - Commercial, Facilities Management, Transport Management, Security Management, Electrical & Mechanical Services and Project Management.
• Communications - Communications is responsible for creating a strong employer brand identity of UnitedHealth Group internally and externally. It structures and streamlines internal communications, establishes and sustains awareness about UnitedHealth Group in the geography and industry, and carries out corporate social responsibility initiative of the organization.
