Overview
Technology function plays a critical role in supporting and enhancing the technology capabilities of UnitedHealth Group. There are more than 3000 associates in this function who specialize in various facets of UnitedHealth Group’s and the health care industry’s technology requirements.
Focus areas
Associates in this function focus on one or more of the areas that contribute to making UnitedHealth Group’s technology suite the most advanced in the industry, including:
- Sub-domains in the health care value chain. E.g., Claims, Member, Provider, Case Management, Customer Service etc.
- Technologies and packages critical to the business. E.g., Mainframe, J2EE, .Net, Facets etc.
- Best-in-class technology services through several Centers of Excellence and competency groups. E.g., Testing, Maintenance and Production Support, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence etc.
- Technology-led solutions that improve the efficiency of UnitedHealth Group’s business. E.g., Improving claims cycle time, automation of manual processes etc.
UHGIS supports the career aspirations of associates in this function by giving them a choice to develop their capabilities in the above mentioned areas, as well as by helping them specialize in project management, technology architecture or business solutions. UHGIS also runs several technology training programs for fresh graduates to help them understand the technologies and applications they will work on at UHGIS.
